Alysha and Donald chose me as their wedding photographer thanks to recommendations from two different clients. The first time we met, Alysha flashed her pretty smile at me and said “We want you.” I was thrilled. The bar was set high, and telling their love story was going to be an honour and a privilege.
It took us a couple of tries to photograph their engagement due to bad weather, but finally, the day dawned bright and sunny and we were able to make beautiful images. More importantly, we made a great connection, and I made two dear friends. Also – Donald licked my hand….. That’s a pretty funny story for another day.
Going into their wedding, I already loved them. Spending the day watching, listening, creating, I realized just how much love surrounds this couple. From the moment I walked in the door for preparations, there was connection, love and joy. I witnessed the bond between a mother for her daughter, that of close-knit twins, and I watched a tear fall from a proud father’s eyes the first time he saw his daughter.
Spending time with Don and his family was no different. I could see the love and pride in his parents’ eyes and, at times, I was overwhelmed with emotion watching the day play out.
The handsome groom was a little overwhelmed himself, and not afraid to show it. Donald walked down the aisle on the arms of both of his parents, as did Alysha. The moment she started down the aisle, they only had eyes for each other. The intimate ceremony at the Norseman Inn was full of tears, laughter, and love. I may have swiped a tear or two myself.
We headed on over to the Camrose & District Museum Society for portraits. As a Camrose wedding photographer, this is one of my favourite places to take photos, full of rustic buildings, old cars, machinery and a windmill! These two lovebirds had a pretty special surprise in store for them. Alysha’s father had arranged for the hockey crazy newlyweds to have photos taken at their favourite barn, the home of their beloved Camrose Kodiaks!
Alysha slipped her Kodiaks jersey on over her dress and we had fun taking hockey themed wedding photos. The rink manager even kindly allowed them to use the zamboni.
Decor at the reception was bright, fun and beautiful, much of it centered around a hockey theme. The exquisite and delicious cake and cupcakes were designed by the talented Tania at Cute & Classy Cakes!
My friends, I can’t wait to watch the rest of your love story unfold. Thank you so much for making me your wedding photographer of choice!
