Edmonton Wedding Photographer – Winspear Wedding
“You know when you have found your prince because you not only have a smile on your face, but in your heart as well.”
Katiana has exquisite taste. The thought and care she puts into her life choices is so clear to see. Kat’s choice of career suits her perfectly, she surrounds herself with friends who complement her personality and she also operates a jewellery import business. Kat chooses only the best and most beautiful gemstones and handcrafted pieces for her clients and it’s clear that she invests a lot of herself into finding just the right piece.

It’s no surprise that James is the perfect man for her, he is thoughtful and funny, tender and sweet. Where he first seems a bit shy, James’ great sense of humour soon shows itself, and he is highly entertaining. However, what I like most about James is his utter devotion to Kat. You can see his love in a sidelong glance, a brush of her hair or a quick snuggle. These two are so engrossed with each other, whispering and laughing and full of love.
During our engagement session, I laughed non–stop, it’s impossible not to be happy when you spend time with this couple. The session, photographed in Edmonton at the Provincial Legislature building shows just how much fun we had. More importantly, it shows just how in love they are.

When it came to the wedding, Kat and James had planned their very elegant wedding down to the last detail.
Kat’s chic styling was done by IMH Studios, Tania and Monica. Her perfect, airbrushed look stayed put even through high winds and a night of dancing!
The wedding was held at the Winspear Centre in Edmonton and what a venue. Kat’s décor matched the sophistication of the location and reflected James’ Cantonese heritage. Exquisite Affairs by Amal Kilani did an excellent job of providing the stylish décor that suit the couple so perfectly.
Kat and James chose to have their ceremony in English and Cantonese, another testament to the thoughtfulness and respect that Kat gives to those around her. The couple’s Justice of the Peace, Vincent Lieu, led them through their vows while charming the couple and guests alike. Standing up at the alter, watching Kat’s face light up at James, watching his hand caress hers, seeing Kat’s mother brush away a tear, I was overwhelmed with the emotion in the room.
Valerie at the Wheelbarrow Gardener / Florist rose to the occasion (pun intended!), following Kat’s colour palette and produced beautiful blooms that lasted all day.
A Capella Catering provided an excellent meal that the guests were raving about, and Sugarleaf Cupcakes provided a selection of cupcakes and a cake, they were so good, we were all after seconds.
Katiana wore two dresses for her wedding. She was married in a romantic white gown, reminiscent of a princess. As the celebrations progressed, Kat snuck away from the reception, only to return on her father’s arm in a traditional Cantonese wedding dress, red and gold, lovingly hand made for her by her Grandma. When Kat stepped into the room, there was silence, she was perfection.

The guests were entertained by David James, with a combination of western and Cantonese music. This crowd was ready to party, and one of my favourite shots was taken over the balcony down at the entire wedding.
As a wedding photographer, I become immersed in the emotion and the love of the day. This is what I do best, feeling the emotion, seeing the deep love for family, the connection between friends, and the dedicated commitment of a bride and her groom. When I feel that, it comes through in my work, and tells a love story perfectly. Kat and James’ Edmonton wedding was one that I will remember for a very long time to come. They touched my heart.

When a client has these words about me, I know I’ve told the story the best way I know how.
Carla Lehman Photography – this lady is absolutely AMAZING. Carla shot our engagement photo’s and our wedding photo’s and was absolutely wonderful at keeping track of what shots we had completed and which we hadn’t. She was able to keep all the groups organized and reassured everyone that we would get all of the shots we asked for. I can’t say enough about how comfortable she made us both feel and how happy we are to have worked with such a wonderful lady and her family (shout out to Callen!).
