Zoe wanted something totally original for her graduation photo session; something that would tell her story uniquely and with style. As well as formal portraits, Zoe wanted a lifestyle casual session with some of her favourite outfits, including the weirdest shoes I’ve ever seen.
Zoe loves winter sports, and her gorgeous dress was sooo “Frozen”, perfect for a day of shredding on the snowboard in -20 weather.
Together with Zoe and her Mom, Lesli, we designed a completely bespoke photography experience for this Class of 2021 kid.
I believe that a lifestyle graduation photo session is as important as the formal session. This session really delves into the heart and the spirit of the graduate.
Zoe’s lifestyle graduation photo session was held at the Alberta Legislature, it involved multiple outfit changes and Zoe rocked it. I’m not sure if you know how hard it is to change clothes out in the open, but with the help of me and Zoe’s Mom along with strategically placed blankets, we were able to have an open air change room.
Zoe is very sweet, very zen, but also very determined and focused. These photos, tell the story of a young woman who has faced adversity and emerged with strength and courage, grace and kindness.
She has great taste in clothes, not so much in shoes, although they are kind of endearing.
When Zoe told me she wanted a formal session in a gown while snowboarding down a ski hill, I knew we were going to have a pretty funky shoot, which I live for.
I contacted a local ski hill, Snow Valley in Edmonton and they graciously allowed us on the hill – ALL BY OURSELVES. We felt like celebrities. Huge thanks to Snow Valley for their kindness, they even opened up the chair lift for us, it was totally RAD!
Zoe had to change into her dress outside, once again – and it was COLD. If you’re never experienced an Alberta winter, you can’t even imagine the goose bumpiness of trying to tie a corset back gown, let alone be the one flying down a ski hill on a snowboard in the wind.
Zoe and Lesli had very specific ideas about what they wanted from Zoe’s sessions. It helps to know what you want from your final outcome, to know the style of session you want, have location ideas and to know what you want to do with the images after your session.
Booking Carla Lehman Photography is also a very good idea! Together, we will plan your perfect session, completely curated to your personality, ideas and desires.
Trusting me to create your dream session is also necessary. We take the time pre-session to go over any questions and concerns, Ensure that we have all of the details looked after, and get the creative juices flowing.
When Lesli saw the final images her words to me were:
I don’t know any greater compliment.
Zoe, than you for trusting me to make your dream graduation photo session a reality. I’m honoured that you let me connect with you, tell your story, create your legacy.

My philosophy is simple. I take beautiful photos and tell your unique story. The moments that you'll want to cherish forever, your legacy. The ones that you'll frame in your home for years to come.
I’m the mom. Still have no words but when your kid turns to you, teeth chattering in her big grin and the kid says mom. “That was my grad March” well I cried. Carla made
Everything so easy and perfect for Zoe (and me). In a year where the ceremony itself Will be dictated by health rules and protocols, these moments with Carla were perfection. Love, always, Lesli
Zoe and Lesli, knowing that I could have small part in making a very big celebration special means the world to me. You mean the world to me.
