I write this with a heavy heart, as Alberta has instituted “mass gathering” restrictions that will be continued into the summer months. I also write this with a feeling of hope, that I can help couples planning their 2020 Wedding During Covid-19 with my words, inspire them with ideas and celebrate the love and commitment that brought them together.
You probably found this article because you’re feeling overwhelmed with your wedding planning during COVID-19… you’re not alone. Here at Carla Lehman Photography, I’ve been helping my Carla Couples during this ever so changing situation and wanted to share some tips here for couples trying to navigate and plan their wedding around Covid-19.
First of all, breathe. Remember what’s important, your love and commitment. This is hard, heartbreaking, but it doesn’t take away what you have together.
The best advice I ever received from a friend was to treat others with compassion during a stressful time. This applies to yourself and your wedding as well. Give yourself grace. It’s okay to be sad, you’ve spent so much time planning, and your plans for a summer 2020 wedding are forever changed. Take time, practice self care, and move forward.
Do you desperately want to be married right now? Need that wedding band on your finger? Then let’s talk about elopement. If you need a location, I’m going to share mine with you.
To see an elopement that I gifted to a couple in my backyard last fall, check this blog post out. I believe in going above and beyond to make my client’s dreams come true.
If you’re already a Carla Couple and you are going to move your wedding to a new date, I’ll photograph your elopement FOR FREE. It’s part of my dedication and love for you.
If you’re my client and you are going to lovingly say goodbye to your large wedding plans, instead, focusing on your marriage with an elopement ceremony only, your retainer is all you’re going to need.
If you want to be a Carla Couple, think my yard would be a perfect location for your elopement, and want me to love all over you (from a safe distance), I’ll photograph your wedding here for you. Email me at carla@carlalehmanphoto, and together we will work on planning your 2020 wedding during Covid-19 in my intimate and beautiful country backyard setting.
I’m here for you. Your retainer is safe, and we will reschedule, coordinating together on dates. I’ll provide you with a list of dates that I’m already booked in the next two years so that you’re well prepared.
It will be imperative to find out which dates your wedding vendor team currently has available in 2020 and 2021.
It’s a good idea to send one email out to ALL vendors letting them know that you wish to postpone your wedding in order to save yourself some time and stress. Vendors are well aware of the situation and are going to want to work with and support you. If you need to you can always move contract specific talk to a private email thread.
When considering a date change, you’ll want to reach out to your immediate and must-have family members as well as your your wedding party. If you’ve already sent out wedding invitations, ensure that your guests receive a “Change The Date” notification. I can help you create one digitally, and you can simply press send. Here is a great blog post from minted.com on communicating with your guests Most couples have a wedding website, keep your guests up to date with your postponement details.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, reach out. I’m a click or call away and will help you with the photography aspect of your wedding, will offer you my yard, and I’m here to listen for everything else. Remember that you’re loved, and your family and friends are feeling for you.
