In an Instant, Everything Changed
Growing up I didn’t realize it, but my parents set me up pretty solidly to become an entrepreneur focused on serving others. It only took a moment, and I learned, perhaps the most valuable lesson of my life one Christmas morning many years ago. This is my legacy.
πΉοΈ πΎ My parents were multipreneurs. Mom worked a day job, Dad had a mechanic repair business, they owned an arcade (heaven for a preteen) and also farmed. I guess you could say they worked pretty hard from sunrise to sundown and taught me about hard work through their actions. ππ§
Lessons Learned
The biggest lesson I learned from my parents? To always lend a hand and lift those around you. Give, even when it may mean sacrifice.
Give First
Truth time – 16 year old Carla did not appreciate when a man we barely knew knocked on our door Christmas Day as we were about to open gifts. In fact I was ungracious and rude. My Mom took me aside, gently reminded me of the true spirit of the day, we found and wrapped some gifts for him and quietly slipped them under the tree. An extra place was set at the table and a great kindness was given to a lonely gentleman.
I learned that day to that we have the power to do kindness that speaks volumes, to give to another and lift them up in the world.
π· I truly believe that what I do with photography is serve others, to create for them an indelible memory, a legacy to share with their grandchildren, to treasure for all time.
π I truly believe in pouring my heart and soul into photographing my clients. By shooting with my heart, I can see theirs.
